“I feel confident that my advocate gives me all the information I need to know about what they’re doing for me.” In 2015, the Modern Slavery Act provided for independent child trafficking advocates to support child victims of trafficking in England and Wales. 2 A system of advocates was trialled in 23 English local authorities between September 2014 and September 2015. Following an independent evaluation published in December 2015, the Government decided not to roll out a nationwide service immediately, but instead to consider adapting and further testing the role of the independent child trafficking advocate.
